Sault Tribal Health Center – Dental Update December 2020

·         The Dental Department at the Sault Tribal Health Center is scheduled to receive a much needed renovation in the spring/summer of 2021.  Construction is anticipated to take about three to four months.  Emergency dental services and reduced hours for regular dental care will occur at a secondary site during the renovation.

·         The combination of Covid-19 mitigation efforts, staffing shortages, and an anticipated reduction in services during an upcoming dental renovation has put a large strain on the dental schedule.  We are making every effort to provide the highest level of dental care to as many patients as possible during this time.  However, the dental department is unable to schedule new patient appointments at this time.  Emergency dental needs of infection and severe pain will continue to be addressed on a daily basis.  We have time set aside each morning to address these emergent dental needs and ask patients to call at 8am to arrange for emergent dental care.  Depending on volume of calls and urgency of the dental need, you may be asked to call back or come in the following day.

·         To reduce the risk of exposure and potential transmission of Covid-19, dental patients will be provided a nasal swab COVID test prior to dental treatment.  This test will likely add about 30 minutes to the length of the dental appointment.

·         Please follow the Sault Tribe Health Center website or Facebook page for additional updates.  We thank you for your patience and understanding during this challenging season.
