Practices all aspects of Optometry, with special emphasis on ocular disease and contact lens.

Krysta Hinman, O.D., studied at the Ferris State University Michigan College of Optometry in Big Rapids, Mich. She conducted residency in rotations at Detroit Veterans Hospital, Henry Ford and The Wellness Plan. She began practice with Sault Tribe in 2010 and alternates between Sault Ste. Marie and St. Ignace. She has special professional interests in all aspects of optometry with special emphasis on ocular disease and contact lens. In her free time, she enjoys outdoor activities with her husband and daughter.

Optical
The Optical Department offers comprehensive Eye Health examinations with an emphasis on the prevention of ocular diseases prevalent within the Sault Tribe population. We have the most current, up to date diagnostic equipment including the new OCT Cirrus. This instrument can now offer the early diagnosis and intervention of sight threatening diseases such as diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma and macular degeneration.
