At Sault Tribal Health Laboratory, we utilize state-of-the-art instrumentation and equipment to provide quality, consistent, and accurate laboratory results to your physician. Our comprehensive range of testing includes hematology, chemistry, coagulation, urinalysis, serology, and send-out testing. Most laboratory testing will be performed at the Sault Tribal Health Laboratory, and most tests will have a same-day turnaround time. However, we also have a partnership with UP Health System in Marquette, which provides you with more complex molecular testing, Cytology, and Pathology.
Our highly trained staff of technologists, technicians, and certified phlebotomists is dedicated to providing comprehensive expertise and excellent customer service. Our laboratory is fully accredited to comply with state and federal standards, licensed by the Commission on Laboratory Accreditation (COLA), and complies with the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments of 1988 (CLIA) standards and regulations.
Laboratory test results heavily influence a majority of the management and patient care decisions made by physicians each day. At Sault Tribe Health Laboratory, we understand the responsibility that accompanies each and every specimen entrusted to us. Quality and exemplary patient care are top priorities.
Adequate patient preparation, specimen collection, and specimen handling are essential prerequisites for accurate test results. The accuracy of test results is dependent on the integrity of the specimen. Proper patient preparation can help ensure the integrity of the specimen and assist the phlebotomist in a less distressing blood collection. Check with your physician, nurse, or laboratory professional to see if there are any special requirements before you come to the laboratory. Fasting tests require that you refrain from eating or drinking anything but water for 10-12 hours. Always try to stay hydrated!
