Our Mission

The mission of the Health Program is  to “provide  high quality, patient-centered health care that is responsive, courteous, and sensitive to individual, family, community, and cultural needs with an emphasis on disease prevention and health promotion”.

Mission Statement of the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians
The mission of the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians is to provide for the perpetuation of our way of life and the welfare and prosperity of our people to preserve our right to self-government and to protect our property and resources as ordained by the establishment of our constitution and bylaws.

Cultural Mission of the Health Services Program
The cultural mission of the Health Services Program as developed by the Helath Cultural Committee is:  to support the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe’s efforts of cultural preservation and to assure the integration of the Anishabeg way of life in the provision of health services.

The mission of the Health Services Programs is to “provide high quality patient-centered health care that is responsive, courteous, and sensitive to individual, family, community and cultural needs with an emphasis on disease prevention and health promotion.”

The Vision of the Health Services Programs as defined by the Governing Director is:

  1. To plan and develop a comprehensive, integrated community based health care delivery system with input and participation of the Tribal Board of Directors, Health Committee, Health staff, and member of each of our tribal community areas.
  2. To provide wide spread traditional healing and prevention components along with timely, appropriate, and efficient access to care.
  3. To have all tribal members have a defined benefit package of basic health care services delivered by well qualified health care professionals.
  4. To have a highly integrated healthcare network within and outside the tribal government with the goal of improving the health status of tribal members and the tribal community.
