Congratulations to Dr. Jillian Perry for being named the June Employee of the Month.

Dr. Jillian Perry is from Ortonville Michigan. She obtained her medical degree at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry. She has been with the Tribe for 3 years. Has a husband Mark, and a 4 month old puppy named Willow. The three of them like to hike and kayak as a family.

Congratulations to Shelby Fox for being named the April Employee of the Month.

Congratulations to Shelby Fox - Employee of the month for April 2022 Shelby started working for the Sault Tribe as a student worker when she was 15. As a student worker she had the opportunity to work within the Health Division in Pharmacy and Behavioral Health. In 2015, was hired as a full time Appointment Programmer for Behavioral Health. In 2018, she was hired into her current position as an Administrative Secretary for Behavioral Health. The Behavioral Health team does such amazing work every day. She is so happy and proud to belong to such a dedicated department!

Shelby graduated from Sault Area High School in 2014. The career center that is attached to our local high school allowed her to gain valuable knowledge in Microsoft office, basic accounting, and web design. Getting involved with volunteer groups like Tribal Youth Council, Working on Wellness, and Students United throughout middle school and high school is where she really found a passion for helping others.

In her spare time, Shelby likes hanging out with family, friends, and her Great Pyrenees Kai. She also enjoys painting, camping, hiking, traveling, listening to podcasts… and binge watching Netflix.

Congratulations to Linda Hammonds for being named the December Employee of the Month.

Congratulations to Linda Hammonds - Employee of the month for December 2021 Linda has been with the tribe 24 years She is from the Sault Ste. Marie She has 2 kids and 4 grandchildren She likes camping, kayaking, spending time with my grandkids, In her free time she likes to play candy crush, and listen to music

Congratulations to Dr. Jessica Neuroth for being named the November Employee of the Month.

Dr. Jessica Neuroth started working with the tribe, December 2, 2019 as a Locums. This was her first ever Locums assignment. Then June 2, 2020, she signed on permanently. She was born in Kansas and her family moved 13 times by the time she was 15. She lived in Fowlerville/Howell, Michigan area for the longest she has ever lived in 1 house. Most recent place she lived was Munger, Michigan which is right outside of Bay City, Michigan She was homeschooled all the way through high school graduation. She had earned all her credits by the time she was 16, but the State of Michigan will only allow HS graduation at age 17. So she attended a Southern Baptist based Finishing School in Dallas, Texas - half distance and half onsite - until she could graduate from HS. Then went to Lansing Community College and obtained a couple of degrees, the most important to was her ADN and then she took her NCLEX for her RN. Then went to Michigan State University for Human Biology. Then to Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. She is the oldest of 8 kids and helped her Mum raise the 6 youngest . It has been her and her Mum making ends meet for a very long time. Mum made sure she got through medical school by making meals and doing her laundry. Then she met her wife and got married, so now it is more of them making ends meet together. She married November 1, 2019 and arrived here end of November 2019. She has 2 step kids. One is 25 and one is 17. The 25 year old has a baby, so she is a grandma too! She likes going on car adventures and exploring new places. She used to play piano for many years, but got out of the habit. Hoping to get back to this soon. She loves music and going to social functions, museums , history, reading. She also likes fishing and hopes to do this sometime during the summer months. Her favorite things to do are spend time with family and friends going on walks and exploring shorelines, mowing the yard and working with tools. She also loves listening to people’s stories about their lives and learning new things. But right now, free time is not available.

Congratulations to Dee Eggert for being named the September Employee of the Month.

Dee was born and raised (for the most part) in the Sault area. She is the middle child of 5 kids. Dee has worked for the Tribe for a total of 25 years. In the early 90s, she started off at Chi Chuk Construction, moved to Education which evolved into managing the Youth Education & Activities Program for many years. In 2018, she started working as the Administrative Medical Secretary for the Sault Tribe Health Center and has said that it has been wonderful experience. Over the years, she has spent a lot of time volunteering for groups and activities like the Sault Tribe Election Committee, Adult Literacy program, Tribal Youth Council, and the Sault Co-Ed Volleyball league. In her downtime, Dee enjoys going to the movies, reading, nerdy pop culture, and having great conversations with people about anything and everything.

Congratulations to MALLINDA LUMSDEN for being named the August Employee of the Month.

Mallinda has been doing the job of three for several months. During this time she has maintained a positive attitude and given excellent customer service to both her external and internal clients.

Congratulations to Ashley Vogal for being named July employee of the month.

Ashley has worked for the tribe for 11 years. She started in the WIA program when she was fourteen and worked for Purchasing and Motor pool. She later went to the Chair’s office, community health, is now in health administration Being a military child, she was Born in Germany and bounced back and forth between here and New York. Her favorite place to live was Watertown, NY. It will always hold a special place in her heart, She still has great military friends from there. She went to school at Northern Michigan University for Writing and Native American Studies/Literature Her hobbies include writing and Photography. Her favorite place to be is home, with her puppies and her writing. She has three lovely puppies, Tonks, Bear and Henry. Henry is the neediest. Ashley is a Published author! 3x times over.

Congratulations to Amanda Sheehy, Health Assistant, St. Ignace Tribal Health Center June Employee of the Month.

Amanda grew up in St Ignace and currently lives there with her boyfriend and two kids. She graduated from LaSalle High School. She has been at the St Ignace Tribal Health Center for almost three years as a Health Assistant-Reception and also help wherever else I may be needed. She enjoys days at the lake, BBQ cook outs and fun with the family in my off time.

Congratulations to Dr. Styer for being chosen as the May Employee of the month.

Dr. Styer was nominated for his dedication and assistance while we have been without a medical director. Congratulations

Congratulations go out to Cheryl Laplaunt, Clinic Manager, St. Ignace for being chosen as the April Employee of the Month.

Cheryl has done an amazing job during the COVID 19 pandemic, most recently organizing vaccination clinics.

Congratulations to Brandi MacArthur for being selected as the March 2021 Employee of the Month

Brandi is currently a Project Specialist for the Sault Tribe Health Division. She specializes in grant writing, data management, and actively works with team members to meet the grant goals and objectives. When STHC first started the COVID-19 Vaccination clinics, she handled procurement and administration of COVID-19 vaccination and medical supplies to inoculate 10,000 patients. This seemed unattainable. However, we have already surpassed that goal. Brandi was fortunate to have a key part in the development and launching of our online COVID-19 registration forms so that patients can now register via computer, tablet or cellphone for their vaccination at any of our 8 tribal facilities. Brandi's software skills were essential to developing and maintaining a COVID-19 patient appointment notification system. She is also currently partaking in a COVID-19 interest survey for tribal members living in the Metro Detroit area.

Employee of the Month for February, 2021 to RaeAnn Brand.

RaeAnn has a Bachelors and Masters of Science in Nursing degrees with board certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Undergraduate studies at Lake Superior State University and Masters at Northern Michigan University. RaeAnn originally began working for the Sault tribal Health center 5/17/1999 until 10/2008. After a brief time away, returned to Sault Tribal Health Center June 2013. Upon her return,she began in the Community Care Clinic partnership with WMH. She has been married to husband, Scott Brand for almost 29 years. They have 2 children Samantha and Gus. RaeAnn love to read when time permits, and enjoys traveling when not in the midst of a pandemic.

Employee of the Month for January, 2021 to Cara St. Andrew from the St. Ignace Tribal Health Center.

Cara self studied and tested to become a certified pharmacy technician. As of December 26th 2020 she has worked for the the tribe for 20 years which have all been in the St. Ignace pharmacy department. She is married to her husband Doug, this coming May will celebrate 14 years. They have 5 children. They aren’t all biological but in her heart they are all hers . She also has 8 grandchildren. They live in a close knit neighborhood where they spend a lot of time with neighbors on weekends and do a lot of camping with them.

Employee of the Month for November, 2020 to Carey Mills.

Congratulations to Carey Mills. Carey graduated from Saginaw Valley State University in 1991 with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Medical Technology. She did her first year-long internship at St. Mary’s Hospital in Saginaw, MI. She passed her ASCP boards in August 1992. She has worked in the Sault Tribe Health Center Laboratory since April 1995. She has been married to her husband, Danny, for over 28 years and they live in Brimley. They have two daughters, Taylor and Katie. For hobbies, Carey enjoys walking, gardening, camping, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. Carey was also named the 2020 Employee of the Year for all her dedicated work during 2020 while the lab experienced huge challenges dealing with the COVID-19 virus.

Employee of the Month for October, 2020 to Joel Lumsden.

Congratulations to Joel Lumsden. Joel has a bachelors degree from Lake Superior State university (aka Harvard on the Hill :0) He has worked at the sault tribe health center in various capacities since 1995 He started as a Direct Services Worker at ACFS He is married to Mallinda and has been married since 2001 They have twin boys Matt and Josh Hobbies include hunting, fishing, sports, youth sports, Joel likes to travel once in a while

Employee of the Month for August, 2020 to Pam Gervais.

Congratulations to Pam Gervais Pam has worked for Sault Tribe Health Center for one year and four months, as a Housekeeping Technician. She has worked for Sault Tribe for over twenty- five years. She is married to Matt Gervais, and will be celebrating Their eighteenth Anniversary on July fifth. They have two children Ashley and Austin. Pam loves to spend time with her family. She likes to BBQ and soak up sun on her deck. They like to travel. In fact they are going to California in June.

July 2020 Employee of the Month Recipient Congratulations to Dr. Steve Obrieter.

Dr Obrieter has been with the Sault Tribe Dental for going on 13 years. He hails from Hastings, Michigan, and graduated from University of Michigan school of Dentistry. He is married to Jennifer and together they have 3 children, 2 girls and one boy ages 12, 10, and 3. Sault Tribe is truly blessed to have Dr. Obrieter on staff. Crazy times in 2020 contributed to the laps in time before this acknowledgement . It in no way takes away from the appreciation that we, as an organization, have for Dr. Obrieter.

Alex is the Health Center Recruiter and has been doing a wonderful job bringing new employees.

May 2020 Employee of the Month Recipient Congratulations to Laura Boucher.

Laura has spent countless hours working with several staff/departments during this pandemic to assure staffs that the best practices are in place to protect the health and safety of both staff and patients. Her logical thinking and common sense approach allows her to be a huge asset in times of uncertainty, like we find ourselves in right now. Laura is always willing to help whenever and where ever she can. She is efficient and caring. Laura goes above and beyond continually but during these last few months she has taken on a new level of responsibility and for that we want to celebrate her. Laura's endless dedication to the Sault Tribal Health Services continues to go unrecognized because she just goes about her business and gets things done. For Laura it's more than a job, it's a dedication to our membership's health and wellbeing.

March 2020 Employee of the Month Recipient Congratulations to Jami Traver, STHC Emergency Preparedness Coordinator

Congratulations to Jami Traver, STHC Emergency Preparedness Coordinator At the start of Covid-19 pandemic, Jamie played a critical role in shaping of the Sault Tribe Health Division's response to it. Jamie quickly developed Covid-19 Emergency response plan Surge Plan. She did that while maintaining her routine duties, dealing with weather emergencies and providing N-95 respirator fitness tests to the Health Division and other Tribal departments' employees. Jamie's actions are always prompt and professional.

February 2020 Employee of the Month Recipient Congratulations to Terri Milligan, proudly serving STHC from beautiful Hessel "Heights."

Terri has been a secretary at Hessel Community Health Center for over 20 years. She goes above and beyond on a daily basis. She has exceptional customer service - always going out of her way to help a client - always with a smile on her face. At this small site she wears many hats and does so without any complaints. The Hessel site was without a full time housekeeper for over a year and Terri filled in and cleaned the restrooms, dusted and emptied garbage. She has always been an team player and is the first one to volunteer to help with special projects and committees. She oversees drills at the Hessel site as well as maintenance projects and traditional burials. The Hessel Tribal community know they can depend on Terri to help with their questions, concerns or faxing paperwork to tribal programs. She is committed to making the Hessel site run smooth. Terri is one of a kind and a true gem of an employee! We are fortunate to have her on our team!

January 2020 Employee of the Month Recipient Congratulations to Cheryl LaPlaunt, Clinic Manage in St. Ignace.

Cheryl does an excellent job managing the St. Ignace clinic, she is always up to date on all of the necessary items that are needed to keep the clinic running smoothly.

December 2019 Employee of the Month Recipient Congratulations to Wanda Clerc.

Wanda was nominated by the Community Health staff for taking such good care of them and all their needs. It was also stated that she did an amazing job with decorating for Christmas gong above and beyond. Wanda has been with STHC housekeeping for 11 years. She states that she loves her job and considers it rewarding that she can meet people as they come and go through the health center. Wanda is friendly, hard working and available if she is needed on other floors to cover for other workers.

November 2019 Employee of the Month Recipient Congratulations to Jenni O'Dell.

Congratulations to Jenni O'Dell for being named the November Employee of the Month. Jenni started as a Community Health Nurse in 1999. In 2012, She assumed the role of Community Health Nurse Supervisor. She oversees the Sault, St. Ignace and Hessel Community Health Nurses and Technicians. Jenni's continued dedication to the Health Centers mission is undeniable, she is a wonderful team member and patient advocate.

October 2019 Employee of the Month Recipient Congratulations to Beth Lewis.

Congratulations to our October Employee of the Month Beth Lewis. Beth was nominated by the entire Sault Billing Staff for her willingness to be a team player going above and beyond her assigned tasks.

September 2019 Employee of the Month Recipient Congratulations to Courtney Dombroski.

Courtney completed her undergraduate studies at Michigan Tech and then graduated from Wayne State University College of Pharmacy in 2016. She has been a pharmacist, in St. Ignace with the Sault Tribe Health and Human Services for almost three years. She lives in Cheboygan with her husband Scott and two children. She enjoys running, camping and being outdoors with my family. Congratulations and thank you for your contributions to the Sault Tribe health care team!

August 2019 Employee of the Month Recipient Congratulations to Nicole Cornwell.

Nichole is a regular in the lab as a Phlebotomist on second floor. She has worked for The Sault Tribe Health Center for 7 years. She is always willing to lend a helping hand with fellow team members, she has an excellent rapport with patients and is a very generous and compassionate employee. Nicole is receiving this award for going above and beyond her job duties helping out with the cleaning of the second floor as the Health Center remains very short staff in the housekeeping department. Nichole is very dependable and hard working. Thank you Nicole for your team play.

July 2019 Employee of the Month Recipient Congratulations to Linda Hammonds.

Linda has worked for the tribe for 20 years with 18 years at the heath center. She worked in medical records then optical then back to medical records. Linda has 2 children and 3 grandchildren. In her spare time she likes to go camping,kayaking, spending time with her grandkids, and spending time at the hockey rink with her grandson Keat.

June 2019 Employee of the Month Recipient Congratulations to Montana (Ester) Decker.

Montana has worked in the Sault Dental clinic as a Dental Hygienist for 22 years. She has been married to Kevin for 26 years, they have two children, Kyle who makes his home in Marquette, and Jennie who is still at home. They make their home in Pickford. Montana is loved and appreciated by both her patients and co-workers.

May 2019 Employee of the Month Recipient Congratulations to Nurse Practitioner, Rae Ann Brand.

Rita was recognized as being a very friendly and helpful co-worker. She is a dedicated employee who goes above and beyond. Thank you for your years of service.

February 2019 Employee of the Month Recipient Congratulations to Chip McArthur.

Chip came to work for the Health Center the later part of December, and what a blessing he has been. As we approached the AAAHC survey he has gone above and beyond to make sure that this building was prepared. He has been proactive in dealing with the winter weather which has been somewhat overwhelming for us all. His response time to staff is incredible, something we haven’t had here for a long time. He is pleasant, knowledgeable, and goes the extra mile to get things done for whoever is in need. We can’t say enough about how he has made everyone's job easier. Having someone to turn to, that you know will get the job done properly and promptly is HUGE.

Debbie's knowledge and dedication to CARF, was invaluable as the Behavioral Health Dept. prepared for the recent CARF survey. Her efforts (along with all the BH staff) were rewarded with a 3 year Accreditation. Congratulations .

December 2018 Employee of the Month Recipient Congratulations to Kristy Hill,

Registered Dietician, and Certified Diabetic Educator, she has been named as December 2018 Employee of the Month. Kristy is working under the Special Diabetes in Indian Country or SDPI grant in the Community Health Department at the Sault Ste. Marie Tribal Health Center. Kristy graduated from Northern Michigan University with a BS in Nutrition in 2000. She accepted a RD position with Sault Tribe Community Health in March of 2001. Kristy and husband John have 3 children and live on a dairy farm in Brimley, Michigan.

November 2018 Employee of the Month Recipient Congratulations to Rick Corbiere.

Rick was chosen due to his dedication for the past 6 weeks of returning after hours, long after going home for the day, to lock up the building since we are extremely short handed. His going above and beyond has been recognized and greatly appreciated. Rick was presented a lovely gift basket full of chocolate goodies.

August 2018 Employee of the Month Recipient Congratulations to Lisa Tatrow, Mental Health Therapist, located at our Manistique Clinic for being chosen as the August Employee of the Month.

 

July 2018 Employee of the Month Recipient Wendy A Frosland, RN, Community Health nurse at the St.Ignace tribal health and human service clinic.

Wendy has been working as a community health nurse for 12 years at the St.Ignace site. Born and Raised in St.Ignace and has been working in the health care field since 1989. Wendy loves working with the her clients and the community. She does home visits, flu clinics, disease process education and more.

Susan always went above and beyond to be helpful to all of the people who she came in contact with. We will truly miss her, but wish her nothing but the best in her retirement.
