Audiology Q&A

What if my hearing Aid (HA) is not working?
If your hearing aid is not working, please call the Sault Tribal health center at (906) 632-5210. Dr. Jessie Skog and Dr. Carolyn Schneider are working two days a week in the Sault office (Wednesdays and Fridays) for the month of June and can either walk you through how to fix the hearing aid or schedule you for a curbside drop off appointment.

What if I do not live in the Sault and want an appointment in St. Ignace, Manistique or Munising?
You will tentatively be put on a call list and as soon as the audiologist is able to travel to the above clinics, you will be called to have an appointment scheduled. As of now, travel is likely to be approved again in July.

How are you making appointments safe?
Every patient is screened at the door, appointment times are expanded to ensure one patient at a time, no or limited waiting room time, audiologists are staying current on cleaning and disinfecting, and all appropriate personal protective equipment will be worn by staff and limiting the amount of patients scheduled.

What if I need more batteries?
If you are close to running out of batteries, please call Community Health (906) 632-5210 and they will let you know the current protocol to picking up your batteries.

When are you seeing patients in office again?
We will begin seeing patients in the Sault Ste. Marie location Wednesday, May 10th by appointment only. Our clinic dates for SSM clients are Wednesdays and Fridays for the month of June.
