Wm.  Lane Barber has a master’s in guidance and counseling.  He is a licensed professional counselor in the state of Michigan along with National Board Certified Counselor, certification.  He has 20+ years of experience in the mental health field providing outpatient counseling services.

 

However, his current position for Sault Tribe is as medical social worker and medical case manager.  Lane has held this position for 8 years.  In this capacity, Lane provides a variety of services to patrons of the tribal medical division.  These services include but are not limited to:

Assisting patients and finding resources to meet her medical needs.

Providing brief mental health services

Helping patients allocate durable medical equipment

Assisting with long-term care placement

Assisting with Social Security disability benefits applications

Applying for Medicaid benefits

Applying for insurance benefits through the insurance marketplace

General Medicine
The Sault Tribe Health Division offers outpatient medical appointments for newborns through the elderly. We have family physicians, pediatricians and nurse practitioners. We care for acute needs, chronic medical conditions, and health promotion/disease prevention appointments. Some of our providers specialize in women's health, others in pediatrics. We offer many procedures such as wart treatments, simple skin excisions, toenail removal, colposcopy, IUD, endometrial biopsy, and LEEP. There are nurse-only appointments available for blood pressure checks, allergy injections, immunizations, injectable birth control, wound care, and ABI. OMT services are offered once a month.
